Media language

1) How are the cover lines written to make the audience want to buy the magazine?

They use a lot of name checks so that people interested in the celeb will buy the magazines. 


2) What are the connotations of the Heat colour scheme on this particular front cover?

The colour a pink, yellow and red stand out which is important considering most people will only glance at the cover and decide weather they want to buy it or not, the pink also connotes how the magazine is targeted to women.

3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

They use paparazzi pictures to represent how the stories inside and gossip is not fake and shows the real true side of the celebrity.

4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.

on tatler there is only one central image whereas on heat there is many since heat want to attract as many people as possible but tatler is targeting a specific niche group of people

presented like normal people which challenges the stereotype that celebrities are perfect all the time

3) How are women represented on the cover of Heat? Think about both images and cover lines here.

The women on the cover are not wearing makeup and are from paparazzi pictures which are meant to be showing the celebrities as their worst which could be sending out the message that women can only look nice with makeup
On the front cover it talks about relationships and gossip which dehumanises them and implies that women only talk about or are interested in gossip and drama
In the picture of harry and Meghan, Meghan is behind harry implying that she's inferior to them 

4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class / working class)

they both feature upper class celebrities on their covers however tatler presents them as classy and elegant way and heat shows them in their everyday lives
